Keep your fingernails beautiful! To restore fingernails to their natural beauty you must attend to them every single day! So many of us have dry, splitting, weak or paper thin nails...and this can be due to many circumstances. If you have strong toe nails and weak fingernails, it stands to reason there are external reasons at work here, rather than your overall health!

Fingernails are composed of layers, and if the nails are filed wrong or abused in any way, those layers will split and separate. We all know we should wear protective gloves when we do all our household tasks, but how many times do we remember?

We are going to outline the important steps to take for beautiful, long, strong fingernails. This won't happen overnight, as it takes a full six months for a fingernail to grow from cuticle to tip. So much for the instant fix, although if you do have a very bad split or tear, I have found the best solution is to take a teabag, cut a piece of it to shape over the split or tear, use a dab of miracle glue (Bondini Glue is the best to use) and then polish over it. Many times it will last until the split or tear grows out - how about that for an instant cure?

Now having said this, there are some nail conditions that may be related to health issues

     1. White spots on nails, may indicate a zinc deficiency.

     2. Yellowish discoloration - may be due to fungus, psoriasis, or possible liver problems.

     3. Vertical ridges can signal an iron deficiency.

     4. Bluish fingernails may indicate circulation problems

     5. Spoon-shaped nails or nails that curve up from nail base may be caused by anemia.

     6. Hangnails can be caused by a lack of protein, folic acid and Vitamin C.

     7. Fungus (if you don't wear acrylic nails) can be caused by lack of friendly bacteria in the intestinal system. If you do have a fungus from wearing acrylic nails, the solutions is Dr. G's Clear Nail - the only one we found that works!

If you have any of the above nail indications you might want to consult your physician about them, or check out what Mayo Clinic has to say.

For the rest of us struggling with fingernail health and care, we offer these basic steps:

Protect your nails from water, the best way to do this is to always wear cotton lined rubber gloves when doing household chores. Always be sure to apply our special  Hand & Nail Crme "The Invisible Glove", with Tea Tree Oil, rub this moisturizing and protective crme around, under and on your nails after exposure of any kind.

Wear gardening gloves if you garden, and gloves all the time if you are exposed to cold weather, as the cold makes nails brittle, dry and hard!

The best time to cut or file your nails is after bathing or washing your hands. They are softer then and will be less likely to chip or break...and always file your nails in one direction - do not "saw" back and forth.

Nail polish protects your nails from moisture, use ones that are formaldehyde free, and always use acetone free nail polish remover. Nail polish remover is very drying to your nails. Remember to wash it off with soap and water and then moisturize again with our Hand and Nail Crme after polish. Professional manicures are also beneficial to your nails.

It takes diligence and attention to restore fingernail health and natural beauty, we make it easier with PhysAssist Hand & Nail Crme "The Invisible Glove".
